conduct.

The standards for sharing a Forge room, program, event, or online space.

Last updated 9 September 2026

Where this applies

This code applies to everyone participating in a Forge residency, fellowship, event, interview, dinner, online space, or other Forge-run activity. It covers founders, team members, guests, speakers, investors, partners, contractors, and visitors.

It applies at Forge venues and accommodation, at off-site activities, in shared transport, and in program-related messages or online spaces. Forge Venture Labs, Inc. supports Forge's global work; Forge Residency Private Limited operates Forge programs in India.

The standard

Treat people with respect. Make room for different backgrounds, identities, abilities, experience levels, and ways of working. Disagree directly about ideas without attacking the person. Respect physical space, boundaries, privacy, sleep, shared property, and the fact that a residency is both a workplace and a temporary home.

Unacceptable conduct

  • Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, stalking, bullying, threats, or violence.
  • Unwanted sexual attention, sexual harassment, non-consensual contact, or repeated contact after someone has asked you to stop.
  • Abusive or degrading comments based on caste, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or another protected characteristic.
  • Sharing another person's private information, application materials, images, recordings, or conversations without permission.
  • Retaliating against someone for raising a concern, supporting a report, or participating in a review.
  • Deliberately damaging property, creating an unsafe environment, or using alcohol or another substance as an excuse for harmful behaviour.

Living and working together

Follow venue, accommodation, equipment, and safety rules. Ask before entering private rooms, borrowing personal items, recording people, or inviting an outside guest into a controlled Forge space. Participants are responsible for their guests.

Romantic, personal, or investment interest never removes the need for clear consent or professional boundaries. Anyone with authority over selection, grants, employment, or access must disclose a conflict that could affect their judgment.

How to report a concern

Tell a Forge team member you trust or email adi@forgeresidency.com. You may report something that happened to you, something you witnessed, or a pattern that makes the space unsafe. Include only the detail you are comfortable sharing; we may ask focused follow-up questions.

If there is immediate danger or a medical emergency, contact local emergency services first and then notify the Forge team when it is safe to do so.

What happens next

Forge will acknowledge the report, assess immediate safety, and review the concern as promptly and fairly as the circumstances allow. We may speak to the people involved, preserve relevant information, change accommodation or access, pause participation, or involve venue staff, professional advisers, or authorities where necessary. Information is shared only with people who need it to respond, investigate, or comply with law; complete confidentiality cannot be promised.

Possible outcomes

Depending on severity and context, a response may include a direct conversation, a boundary or safety plan, a warning, removal from an event or residence, loss of program access or support, termination of a working relationship, or referral to an appropriate authority. Forge may take immediate protective action before a review is complete when safety requires it.

Fairness and non-retaliation

Reports made honestly will not harm an application or standing merely because a concern was raised. Knowingly false or malicious reports may themselves violate this code; a report that cannot be substantiated is not, by itself, a false report. We will consider context, evidence, safety, and applicable law before deciding an outcome.
